🧑‍🏫 Instructor Code of Conduct at Kung Fu Club
All instructors, assistant coaches, and visiting teachers at Kung Fu Club are expected to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, safety, and respect. This Code of Conduct outlines the behaviours and responsibilities required to ensure a safe, inclusive, and empowering training environment for all students.
1. Safeguarding and Welfare
- Prioritise the physical and emotional wellbeing of every student, especially children and vulnerable individuals.
- Avoid any behaviour that causes distress, humiliation, or fear.
- Use physical contact only when necessary, and always in a safe, respectful, and purposeful manner.
- Respond promptly to any safeguarding concerns or signs of distress.
- Cooperate fully with safeguarding investigations and procedures.
2. Respect and Professionalism
- Treat all students, parents, and fellow instructors with courtesy and respect.
- Maintain appropriate boundaries at all times—verbally, physically, and socially.
- Avoid shouting, sarcasm, or belittling language.
- Lead by example in punctuality, discipline, and personal conduct.
3. Timekeeping and Session Conduct
- Arrive early and prepared for all sessions.
- Begin and end classes on time, respecting students’ and families’ schedules.
- Ensure warm-ups, drills, and contact work are age-appropriate and safely supervised.
- Avoid unnecessary delays or distractions during class.
4. Communication and Transparency
- Keep parents informed of any incidents, concerns, or changes to training.
- Report safeguarding concerns to the designated safeguarding lead without delay.
- Maintain confidentiality where appropriate, but never at the expense of a child’s safety.
5. Accountability
- Accept feedback and correction with professionalism.
- Support a culture of openness, where concerns can be raised without fear or favour.
- Uphold this Code of Conduct at all times, whether teaching, assisting, or representing the club externally.
This Code of Conduct is reviewed annually and forms part of our safeguarding framework. Breaches may result in disciplinary action, suspension, or referral to external authorities.
